Don "Freehand" Kauli'a released Maui Merry Christmas December 10th just in time for the Holidays. Recorded at PuresoundCD studios quite by accident...all these great local artists were dropping by to work on Don's new Praise & Worship album or just dropping in. Well anyway the tape was rolling and we ended up with some really cool christmas songs like Christmas Island and Maui Merry Christmas penned by Don and Chance and Bradda Francis with vocals by Bradda Francis, Little Drummer Boy complete with the "little drummer boy himself " Hector Serrano!, etc. So we released it locally at Borders, Groove 2 Music, Requests and other local merchants on the Manawa label.
Some of the other artists this month...Marty Dread came in the studio and rapped on a couple of 2.5's songs for their debut album. By the way Marty's new CD is out! It's called On the Beach and it is hot!!!
Puresound Duplication: Thomas Matapang released FVK...John Lewis & Ricardo Dioso's eponimously titled CD is out locally and on it's way to Europe...Maui Merry Christmas...Fate Stepped In... and more.
Yours truly, Chance Gardner, even released a CD in 2001: Fate Stepped In is a collection of singles, songs on compilations and never released material from Boston and Maui...It's cool if ya dig Rock & Roll, Blues and a couple of cover songs like Love in Vain (Robert Johnson), Man of the World (Peter Green--early Fleetwood Mac) and Crazy (Desmond Child, recorded by Aerosmith) a la Roy Orbison for a Boston local band's Aerosmith tribute album that included songs by Gary Cherone (Extreme, Van Halen) and Laurie Sargent.
